A showcase celebration of
Brass with events throughout Scotland, presenting the finest playing
talents in the world to local and international audiences. The European Festival of Brass 2014 will take place throughout Scotland from 26th April - 11th May, with key events being hosted in the Fair City of Perth from 26th April - 4th May 2014, including The 2014 European Brass Band Championships and 7th European Solo Championships. In addition, the engagement of over 130 communities across the country during the extended festival period will present a diverse variety of showcase performances, workshops, exhibitions, masterclasses and presentations to spotlight Scotland’s musical heritage on a global stage. The event will welcome the finest brass bands from 20 European countries, together with international virtuosi performing in venues throughout Scotland. The European Youth Brass Band will be welcomed for their 2014 residential seminar and the festival plays host to the 2014 European Solo competition which attracts Europe's talented musicians to perform at a showcase event. An innovative approach to the festival's programme enables Scotland's creativity to be presented to local and international audiences through commissioned works written by Scottish composers, performed by all the participating bands and to be offered as a legacy for the future. The European Festival of Brass 2014 offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the many facets of brass music and Scotland's diverse musical heritage. The Scottish Brass Band Association looks forward to welcoming visitors and participants from across the globe to experience this world-class festival. |
